Got Some Ideas

About

My name is Peter, here are some interesting and amazing facts about me:

  • I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota (of the United States of America).
  • I’m currently a college dropout.
  • I’m an advocate of free software (not open source).
  • I use GNU/Linux.
  • I like recording music, both with my band and alone [link coming soon...].
  • I’m planning on going back to school to study computer science, even though I’m only a novice programmer at this point.

The title of this weblog, “Got Some Ideas”, comes from lyrics in the song “Happy Colored Marbles” by Ween. The full verse is:

Most people are not okay, but they’re taking their siestas in the sun
Got some ideas on the way it should be
But most of ‘em just carrying on

I don’t know why I chose the title or what significance it has. It sounded like a good idea a long time ago, but now I think it’s kind of lame. Oh well.

The weird, psychedelic image I’m using as a banner came from an assignment I had in the Introduction to Computer Science class I took in college. The goal was to take an image—in this case it was a photo of some mountains—and blur it by writing some Java code. This was the result I got on one of my first attempts. Wrong, of course, but much more interesting than the result I was trying to achieve.

I’d love any feedback you’d be willing to give me. I want to develop my skills as a writer, and feedback from others is probably the best way to improve. Feel free to leave comments on any of my posts, or you can email me at peter at gotsomeideas dot com.
